: Spread the Word
Thank you for joining the Million Minute Family Challenge and committing to playing games.
While joining the Million Minute Family Challenge is as easy as gathering your group around the table for 20 minutes, many of you are so excited about this event that
you wonder why everyone across the country isn’t joining in. We do our best to spread the word and raise awareness about the Million Minute Family Challenge, but our
time and resources are limited, so any little bit you can do to help us is greatly appreciated. If you have questions, feel free to call 1-800-524-4263 ext. 249 or
email Beth.

Below are some useful tools to help you spread the word:
Word of mouth
You have joined, but have you told your friends, family, neighbors, church, school, clubs, library and more? Give them a brochure and send them to
www.millionminute.com to sign up.
Radio
Face it, we listen to our favorite DJs like they were a close friend, so why not share the fun of the Million Minute Family Challenge with them? Fax, email or send
them a link to these public service announcements and ask them to share the information on-air and on
their websites. You can even tell them to contact Beth at 1-800-524-4263 ext. 249 to learn how they can get games for prize giveaways.
Newspaper and other Print Publications
Reading news about someone you know is more interesting than reading about some stranger across the country. When there is good news it is even better,
so share your positive Million Minute Family Challenge game play with your local print publications. Use our
press release to get you started. Save the document on your computer and personalize it with the details of your
personal experience.
Then call your local publication to find the name and email of the person you should send the press release to. If you are planning a specific event, make sure the
media receives your press release 7-10 days before the event. Share with them your phone number and also the contact of Million Minute Family Challenge organizer,
Beth Muehlenkamp 800-524-4263 ext. 249 in case they want to set up an interview. Feel free to share this news with your local newspaper, radio station, magazine,
school, library, church, game club, museum and more!
Social Media
Tell your friends all about the Million Minute Family Challenge and how you are participating by posting information on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, blog, and
other social media websites. If you have a game event planned, post the information on the
Discussion section of the Patch Products Facebook page.
Board Game Facts and Useful Information
When sharing your story with your local media or planning your game event it often helps to spruce up your original ideas with some background information such as:

Benefits of Playing Board Games
Plato, the Greek philosopher once said, “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”
The benefits of playing board games have been extensively researched and are numerous. Non-electronic games provide a face-to-face interaction in a relaxed atmosphere
where the lines of communication open. Play promotes cognitive development, language, motor abilities and social maturity. Additionally, play allows children to
express and explore feelings, thoughts and experiences. Even businesses can experience remarkable breakthroughs from play, which helps establish a safe environment
for introducing new ideas, generating dialogue, challenging assumptions and building a sense of common purpose.
The Million Minute Family Challenge provides expert advice on the additional benefits of play:
Game Night Fundraiser
Games are fun and people like to play them, so why not use games to raise funds? Whether you are a PTO/PTA, community charity, scout troop, church or any other group
looking to raise money for a good cause, hosting a game night is a great idea! One way to organize the event is to gather a wide selection or library of games and
charge a small entrance fee or non-perishable food item for people to come, socialize and play games. Your game play could just be a variety of tables and people move
around at their leisure or you could have people register in advance and set up a tournament style play.
Another option is to connect the Game Night with a dinner and
ask businesses and other supporters to buy a plate or entire table. Then after dinner play Buzzword organizing each table as a team. For example, use a large write
on/wipe off board at the head of the room to write the Buzzword, hand out sheets of paper and pens to write the answers, start the timer and let the fun begin. The
first table to bring the completed, correct answers to the head of the room win that round.
Do you like these ideas, but would prefer them to come in a ready-to-go
kit that could be purchased for a nominal fee? If so, contact Beth and express your
interest.
